Employee advocacy

Review current employee advocacy behavior, availability, limits, and operating details for Slash Social.

Employee advocacy gives teammates a governed way to share approved brand content from Slack. A teammate can copy the prepared text and link, use an available platform share action, or publish through a supported personal connection. Recognition settings can record participation without changing the approval state of the original brand post.

What it includes

  • An advocacy feed in the Engage work center for share-ready items.
  • Prepared share text and a governed destination link.
  • Copy and external share actions for available destinations.
  • Direct personal publishing for supported LinkedIn and X connections.
  • Optional recognition and gamification summaries for advocacy activity.
  • Analytics polling for supported personal advocacy posts after publication.

Advocacy sharing is separate from publishing to a brand-owned social account. Personal direct publishing uses the individual teammate’s connection and identity.

Share an advocacy item

  1. Open App Home, go to Engage, and open the Advocacy Feed.
  2. Open an item and review the suggested text, destination, and source post.
  3. Choose Copy text when you want to publish manually, or choose an available platform share action.
  4. For direct LinkedIn or X publishing, connect the requested personal account and confirm the target identity shown in the modal.
  5. Review the final text and submit the share.

The expected result is a published or copied share associated with the selected advocacy item. When recognition is enabled, the activity can contribute to the teammate’s advocacy summary after processing completes.

Admin setup and access

Employee advocacy is included on the current public plans. Admins can configure advocacy and recognition settings from Settings. Participants need access to the active brand and the advocacy feed. Direct personal publishing additionally requires the individual user’s valid LinkedIn or X personal connection; a brand account connection does not substitute for it.

Use Permissions reference to review who can manage advocacy settings. Recognition is optional: disabling recognition does not remove the underlying share actions.

Troubleshooting

If direct publishing is unavailable or fails:

  1. Confirm the item is still available in the active brand’s advocacy feed.
  2. Confirm the correct personal identity appears in the publish modal.
  3. Reconnect the personal LinkedIn or X account if the connection is missing, expired, or revoked.
  4. Retry once after reconnecting. Do not submit repeatedly while the first attempt is still processing.
  5. Use the copy action as a manual fallback if platform publishing remains unavailable.

See Account connection troubleshooting for reconnection steps and Gamification settings for recognition controls.
