Assignment rules
Review current assignment rules behavior, availability, limits, and operating details for Slash Social.
Assignment rules route unassigned posts, inbox items, and conversations to a Slack user or user group. Rules can match work type, platform, content pillar, and workflow stage.
What it includes
Assignment rules live in the Settings work center. See Plan comparison for plan availability.
The auto-assign section is visible from App Home. On entitled plans, admins can create, edit, enable, disable, prioritize, and delete rules. On lower plans the section shows an upgrade path without applying rules.
Each rule combines conditions with a target assignee. When new work matches, Slash Social assigns it to that user or user group. Lower priority numbers run first when more than one rule matches. Rules apply only when the work is currently unassigned.
Supported condition dimensions are:
- Work type: post, inbox item, or conversation
- Social platform
- Content pillar
- Workflow stage
How to use it
- Open App Home and switch to Engage or Settings.
- Open the Auto-assign work section.
- Choose Manage assignment rules to create, edit, prioritize, enable, disable, or delete rules.
- Save each rule with the conditions and assignee your team expects.
- Create a test item that matches a rule you saved and confirm the assigned owner matches the rule target within a normal processing window.
Use a lower priority number for rules that should run first. If two rules have the same number, the older rule runs first. If a matching rule points to a missing or inactive user, an unavailable user group, or a group with no members, Slash Social tries the next matching rule.
Details
Assignment rules run automatically through the work-item pipeline. They do not change ownership on items that already have an assignee.
If an expected assignment does not appear, confirm the item is unassigned, the organization has access to Assignment rules, the rule is active, its work type/platform/pillar/stage conditions match, and its target user or user group is available. Assignment runs asynchronously, so allow a normal processing interval after work is created.
