How-to guide

Manage campaigns

Follow the complete Slack workflow to manage campaigns, including prerequisites, decisions, and recovery steps.

Goal

Create, inspect, export, and remove campaigns for the active brand while keeping campaign context attached to planned content.

When to use this

Use campaign management when a group of planned posts needs a shared initiative, owner, or reporting context. Create a campaign before you generate a focused plan, inspect an existing campaign before you change its details, and export it when stakeholders need the current campaign record outside Slack.

Use pillars for ongoing themes that outlive a campaign. Do not remove a campaign simply because a single post changed direction; update that post’s planning context first. Removal is for campaign records that the active brand no longer needs.

Before you begin

Select the active brand in App Home. You need campaign and pillar planning access to change campaign details. Removing campaigns is permanent for the selected set, so confirm the campaign list before you submit the removal action.

Steps

Create or inspect a campaign

  1. Open the campaign planning action from Plan or Settings.
  2. Choose Create campaign to add a campaign, or open an existing campaign to inspect its details.
  3. Enter or update the campaign fields shown in the modal and submit.

The saved campaign becomes available when you assign campaign context to planned content.

Keep the campaign details specific enough for the team to recognize the work in Plan. Before you submit, confirm the active brand and the campaign name. A campaign is scoped to that brand; another brand cannot use the same record unless it creates its own campaign.

Export campaign details

  1. Open the campaign you want to share or review.
  2. Choose Export.
  3. Use the delivered export in the destination Slack provides.

Exports reflect the campaign data available to the active brand at the time you run the action.

Use the export as a snapshot. If a teammate updates the campaign after you export it, run a new export rather than treating the earlier file as a live record.

Remove campaigns

  1. Filter or review the campaign list until it contains only campaigns you intend to remove.
  2. Choose the remove-campaigns action.
  3. Read the confirmation prompt and submit only when the selected list is correct.

This action permanently removes the selected campaigns. It does not recreate campaign context on existing content. Stop and ask a brand administrator if you are unsure which campaigns are still in use.

Before you confirm, inspect scheduled and draft content that references the campaign. If the content should keep a planning context, assign the replacement campaign or pillar first. Do not use bulk removal as a way to hide a campaign temporarily; use a narrower planning change when the campaign may return.

Confirm it worked

Reopen campaign planning and confirm the created campaign appears, updated fields persist, or removed campaigns no longer appear in the active brand list. Planned content should show the campaign context you selected before scheduling it.

An export succeeds when Slack delivers the campaign data to the chosen destination. If the campaign is removed, refresh the Plan view before you decide whether any existing content still needs a replacement context.

Troubleshooting

Campaign actions are missing or blocked. Confirm the active brand and your campaign-planning access. Switch brands in App Home, then reopen the action.

Changes do not appear after submit. Reopen campaign planning and check the current list. If another teammate changed the same campaign, use the refreshed record before editing again.

You are unsure whether removal is safe. Do not submit the confirmation. Check planned content and campaign ownership first, then ask a brand administrator to confirm the intended list.

An export does not arrive. Reopen the campaign, run the export again, and confirm the Slack destination can receive the file. If the action still fails, record the visible error and use A Slash Social action did not complete.

The wrong brand appears. Switch the active brand in App Home, reopen campaign planning, and verify the campaign list before you make a change.
